The Strategy Drop · Issue 02
Strategy Tips Right In Your Inbox
You're not invisible, leads are coming, but you're losing them. Here's why.I hear it all the time: "I get leads, they just don't convert." After you fix your visibility issues, the next wall you hit is leads going cold before you even have a chance to respond. This issue is about that wall, and exactly how to knock it down. And no, I'm not gonna tell you you need to be available 24/7.
This Issue's Strategy Tip
Your follow-up system is costing you more than your entire marketing spend. Here's a stat that should stop you in your tracks: leads are 21x more likely to convert if you contact them within 5 minutes of their inquiry. Wait just one hour and you've already lost 80% of your shot at converting them. Not because your offer isn't good, or your price is too high. Only because someone else got to them first. Most service businesses, even established ones, are running their entire lead management process manually. I hear it often from my clients "but I want them to feel special". That's awesome, but you won't get a chance to if someone else's automated reply hooks your client into their world first.

The fix isn't around the clock availability. It's building a system that responds for you and gets them into your world while you looks over their inquiry. That looks like: 1. An immediate auto-responder. The moment someone submits your contact form, they get a reply. I'm not talking about a generic "we got your message". I want you to send a warm, on-brand response that confirms receipt, sets a timeline, and gives them something useful to look at while they wait. This buys you time WHILE keeping you top of mind, without losing the lead. 2. A post-consult nurture. Someone got on a call with you and then went quiet. That's not a lost lead, that's a warm lead with no system behind it. An automated check-in at day three, day seven, and day fourteen closes more of those than any amount of manual hustle will. Your conversion rate depends heavily on the nurturing infrastructure you set up.
What I'm Watching
Speaking of CRMS, Slack just dropped a major update, and buried inside it is something worth paying attention to if you run a small service business and already has Slack. In addition to Slackbot upgrades, they've built a completely new CRM interface inside Slack, powered by Salesforce, letting small businesses manage customer relationships without ever leaving the platform. Whether or not Slack is your thing, this signals something bigger: the tools are coming to where you already work, instead of asking you to go somewhere new. The barrier to having an actual system is getting lower. There's less excuse not to have one. Read more →

Map your lead flow, and find your leaky faucet.Grab a piece of paper and write out exactly what happens after someone submits your contact form right now. Step by step. Who sees it? When? What happens next? Where does it go manual? Where does it stall? Do you have clear next steps for your warm leads? That gap, wherever you had to write "I check it later" or "I try to remember to follow up" that's your leaky faucet. If you're following up manually, chances are your conversion rate has already been cut in half by the time you hit send.

I'm building something for founders who are just getting started. After working on a few template customizations, I saw a HUGE gap, I just needed to fill. I'm launching a template shop in April. But not just any templates. These are SEO-loaded website templates built with the exact same research and strategy formulas I use for my custom clients. Everything I'd spend weeks building for a full-service project (the keyword strategy, the page structure, the copy angles) baked directly into a template you can DIY responsibly. A few things that make these different: Only 10 copies per template. I'm capping it on purpose. If everyone has the same strategy, nobody wins. Your competitive edge is protected. Strategy is built in. This isn't a pretty design with a placeholder. The research is done. You're getting the formula, not just the frame. Priced to be accessible. Thinking $500–$600 — more than a generic template because you're getting 10 years of corporate strategy poured into it, but nowhere near custom pricing. It should be within reach for founders who are building. I'm releasing these for women founders who are starting out and deserve a website that actually works from day one. Waitlist is open now.
